We have yet to do some snorkeling even once so far this year due to rough seas and bad weather on all the days that we have off and are able to get out.

Ocean has been flat and beautiful for the past few days with the wind out of the West. Perfect conditions to do some near shore snorkeling. Only problem is we have to work during the week so being optimistic that conditions would still be favorable on Saturday we got up early, loaded up our tandem kayak and headed over to Vista Park beach which is just up the road from us.

Ocean was flat when we got there but as soon as we got out in the water a huge squall moved in and the WeatherBug Spark Alert told us to “seek shelter now.” Ocean got rough with white caps really fast and we had all we could do to get back to shore. I don’t think we have ever gotten all our gear loaded back up so fast. It’s amazing the motivation that lightning gives.
